Malcolm Joshua built his first boat when he was just nine years old. The flat-nose timber punt was put inside his dad’s (Cliff Joshua’s) boat when towed to various rivers and dams for a spot of weekend fishing. This small, hand built punt sparked a passion for fishing and boating that continues to drive Malcolm in both his personal and professional lives.
When Malcolm was 16, Cliff was building timber Hartley boats, and Malcolm helped with the construction of side decks, cabins & bunks.
Cliff then started building aluminium boats, Bay Craft, where Malcolm was able to develop his skills, learning to weld and designing and developing an alloy canoe.

Malcolm made the move to Brisbane, where with his wife Pauline, they started Aluminium Mantacraft. However, all work and no play took it’s toll, so Malcolm & Pauline sold Mantacraft, bought a catamaran and went cruising from Brisbane to the Kimberlies for four years. “We stopped at every island and in every river possible; exploring, fishing, crabbing, prawning cray-fishing and more importantly, bonding.”
They arrived home ready to work again in 2000, and started helping Cliff & Wayne with JBS, and since then Malcolm has personally re-developed the designs and drawings of the current model boats.
Cliff is now retired, however he is still consulting and advising part time. Malcolm has now re-launched Joshua Boats, a return to the family name. Malcolm has further developed the flared hull shape with production of 5 to 7.5 metre Centre Cabs, Cuddy Cabs, Consoles, and Tiller steers.

The flare also gives you a much drier ride in choppy conditions as it is curving the water and spray downwards. The finer entry at the flare also allows your boat to be built with a lesser “V”, making your boat more economical to propel through the water.
A family business where you can communicate directly with the builder to have your boat fitted out to your requirements.
45 years of boat building experience has resulted in the brilliant hull design, providing a perfect balance between ride and stability.
Your hull is built with genuine marine grade plate alloy, being a higher tensile strength which is much stronger than sheet alloy.
Welded and foam filled buoyancy tanks the length of the self draining floor makes your boat virtually unsinkable.
Under floor structure is engineered to increase strength and durability.
Survey standard tradesmen use the latest aluminium technology and welding machines, producing higher quality welds with less distortion.
